#018 You Might Live in Scotland If...

                 .. your 3 year old asks you for beans on toast for lunch :)

Apparently she has it at nursery (preschool) as a snack
and now it's her new favorite!

Rose is Rising!

Rose turned three at the end of August and I just can't believe how much she seems like a big girl these days. Her sentences come with fewer errors now and she is starting to pronounce most of her words correctly. I'm always sad when that happens  - ha!
 She is full of life and personality! For a long time we thought she was going to be quite tame and mild in comparison to Madison, but we are finding she has her own sort of spunky personality that comes out when she is comfortable in her setting. She's starting to stand up for herself more with Maddy and become her own little person. I love it!

She has started recognizing letters and numbers well and enjoys counting and listening in on Maddy's homework. She has started drawing stick people pretty well and plays so well on her own.
In fact just yesterday, just found my lipstick and decided to draw some little people all over our fridge -ha! I had to laugh because Maddy has done much worse with permanent marker! And at least this cleaned up with a baby wipe ;)

She is getting taller each day and is gaining on Maddy pretty quickly. I think in the long run she may end up being taller than her big sister, but we'll see!
I hardly ever have her in the stroller any more.We walk hand in hand down the side walk. **Sigh!

Here are some of her sayings that I actually have been writing down since the end of Spring and through the Summer and am just now getting a chance to post them. So she speaks more clearly now, but I love remembering the little things she says and how she says them ;)

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Rose Says:

After we dropped Tim off at work, "Mom, I miss Daddy! I Love Daddy!" As she looks out the window, "I love car; I love house; I love tree!"

When racing Maddy, "You winned. I losed! Maddy, I wan losed!"

"Hey Mom! I eat all my apple, that great?!"

When I catch her with the tv turned on (without asking) she quickly said, "Daddy say I watch a tv".
Me- um, honey - Daddy's not even home. That one's not gonna fly ;)

Rose after I flushed the toilet, " I like a waterfall mama!"

Looking out the window at night, "I wan a moon come down!"

In the back seat of the car in angry voice -"There a hair on me!" or "There a booger on me!" or There a dirt on me!"

Requesting her favorite song(This little light of mine), "I wan a sing a sunshine!"

Requesting Jesus Loves me, "Sing a God a Bible"

On a sunny day in Aberdeen (which are few and far between), "Thank you God a sunshine!"

"Is that yours milk" "Is that yours doll?"

"I have a scratch on my belly - maybe Maddy do it, maybe mama did it, maybe castles do it!"

When playing princesses or ponies, "You be this one mama and I be this one".

"Eww - bugs! we don't eat bugs, no no no!"

"Mom, you tell me if I say stupid. Ok? Did I say stupid? You tell me if I throw up, ok? Did I throw up mommy?"

Oh this silly little girl. I just love her :)

A Puppy Party and a Trip Down Memory Lane

 Rose loves "dog dogs" so we decided to celebrate here 2nd year of life with a "Puppy Party"!
All dressed up and checking out the cupcakes!
Sweet sisters waiting for their buddies to arrive.
Tim promised Rose a treat if she smiled ;)
The spread! I found most of these ideas on Pinterest and Martha Stewart's Website :)
She actually had a whole segment on a Puppy Party! She has a great video to watch here. Hers was much more elaborate than mine, but I'm proud that I did mine on a tight budget of time and money!
How could I not serve Puppy Chow?!
Dog Bones (pre-made herbed puff pastry). I was going to make homemade soft pretzel bones, but just didn't have time. Can anyone relate with that?! So I bought some pre-made dough, cut it into approximately 4x2 in. rectangular strips, rolled each strip into a snake like shape, and then tied each end into a knot. Voila! Dog Bones.
Pupcorn (sorry for all of the lame puns - I just couldn't help myself!)
Malt Balls ;)
We just HAD to serve hotdogs!
And they were American made from Costco - so that made my heart happy!
And of Course - Pupcakes!
I basically followed Martha Stewart's idea, but made it a little easier. I frosted them with homemade buttercream, Stuck a little mini cookie on for the face, chocolate chips for the eyes, chocolate covered raisin for the nose, drew the mouth with icing tube from the store (I also ended up using that to put the nose on so it didn't look white under the nose).
 And since I couldn't find any cookies here that fit the right size of the ears (some people used "Nutter Butter" cookies), I followed Martha's video of making the them.

I just melted chocolate chips, scooped it into the corner of a zip lock bag (makeshift piping bag), cut the corn off, and piped small oval (isn) or bean-like shapes onto wax paper, let them cool in the fridge. I then stuck them to the frosting smooth side up for ears!
The shape of each set of ears was not exactly symmetrical, but they look just fine on the cupcakes I think!
I'll admit, that part was MUCH easier than I though it would be. I even made a little heart with chocolate and put it on a cupcake for Tim. I'm totally using this method again for decorating cakes and desserts in the future!
I made a doggy bag using this clip art template. I really just wanted to use brown paper lunch bags (because they are cheaper), but I couldn't' find them here.
All in all it was a really fun party. Rose sure did love those "Dog Dogs"!
And that of course made me happy!
Happy Birthday Rose Lillian Baylor!

She said. She said.

Well, I use to just do "Maddy says"  - but Rose has been talking so much lately and saying the funniest things, that I had to share some of what each of our quirky girls are saying! These have been documented over the last month or two. I'm so glad to have some time to sit down and share them! I sure don't want to forget a single one of them as they grow out of these silly stages so quickly ;)

Rose Says:
* If she spills something or wipes her nose on MY shirt, she says, "oh Boy! Mess!"
* I handed her a pear to eat and she poked her finger into a brown spot(which squirted juice everywhere) and she said, "oh poop!"
* She likes to give a commentary on things that go around her, "that hot", "that cold", "that manny(Maddy) shoe"
* One day we were walking up the steps to our front door after being out for the morning, and Rose walked right up to our neighbors door (very near to ours because it's like a duplex) and she started knocking on the door saying, "Broadie! Broadie!" Broadie is our neighbor's dog. haha!
*When Maddy does something that looks fun she said, "et tu?" which  means, "me too?"
* If she wakes up and Tim has already gone, she'll say, " I wan dada"
* When She see's Tim for the first time after a long day, she will hug him and say, "I miss you!" She says it in this sweet little voice that always makes Tim and I giggle :)

* One day, she woke up from her nap before Maddy(that usually doesn't happen!) But she was so wanting to play with Maddy that she snuck into our room where Maddy was sleeping on our bed and yelled 3x "Ake up Manny!(Wake up Maddy!) -somehow Maddy didn't wake up!

Maddy Says:
* When I told her that I was heading out to go spend some time with my friends, she said, "I have an idea(with her pointer finger up) -you can go see your friends for 1 min, then you can come right back here to me!"
* "Mom, I'm drinkey - can I have some water?"
* One night for evening prayers she said to God, "Thank you for mom and dad and ME - and I wold love it if you would make a rainbow again!"
* After I had royally burnt some popcorn, she said, "When I get big and look like a grown up, I will never make popcorn black -I will make it white and yummy!"
* While she was sitting on the potty looking at the bath tub she said (with a horrified look on her face), "The other last day I peed in the bath and I didn't jump out, I stayed in there and then swimmed
 around in it!"
* She still calls McDonalds, "Old Mcdonalds" and I almost never correct her because I love it so much :)
* We put on some temporary tattoos and she kept calling them "tutu's" - it was so sweet.
* When I showed her a picture of Tim and I on our wedding day she said, "Oh mom (with a gasp) you look like a Princess! When I get to be a grown up like you, can I wear a white dress and marry Daddy and he can wear a black coat?"

~~~We've had about a week of 65 degree, sunny weather here in Aberdeen and took full advantage of being outdoors soaking up the sun! But now we're back to the high 40's low 50's again. Trying to just be thankful that we got some sun and putting jackets back on to get out to the park.
R.L.B. is 18 months :)
Oh our sweet Rose Bud! I can't believe she's already 1 1/2 years old. She has certainly won the hearts of our family! She's endearing, lovable, thoughtful, snuggly, smart, and HAPPY :)
*Her language skills have really started taking of this past month. She's trying to copy words that we say now and is so proud of herself. She has a slew of words that she knows and uses them! I'm so glad too. There's not much more frustrating than a toddler screaming (for some unknown reason) and they can't tell you why. YAY for words :)
* She LOVES to dip her food into anything(humus, ketchup, dressing). As soon as I put food on her tray(it could be anything from a carrot to a piece of cheese) and she'll say, "dip dip," and repeat it until I give her something to dip her food in. It cracks us up!
Playing with a stick at the park. Looks a little like a "Harry Potter" stance to me :)
*She tries to count, but only comes out with Wun(1) Wee(3) Wun Wee, Wun Wee - over and over. She grins ear to ear and is so proud of herself. I love it!
This is with our friend Stacey. I love that she looks like such a big girl  here!
*Her new favorite toy is her baby doll stroller. From the minute she wakes up she is busy busy pushing that little stroller around. Now mind you, it seldom has a baby in it. It's contents are more likely to be a brush, toy, sippy cup, granola bar, or her favorite blanky.
Chasing Pigeons in Edinburgh. She has recently gotten her "toddler run" down. I just love it!
* Her all time favorite food is oranges - but unfortunately she gets a nasty diaper rash when she eats them :(  But when she can't have an orange, she'll take some baked beans(I know, weird right?!)
* She loves loves loves to eat! It's hard to believe for as tiny as she is, but this girl basically eats all day. She has several different ways that she will tell us that she is hungry:
#1 She'll climb up into her chair and say, "foo" (food)!!
#2 She'll open this low cabinet we have and pull out the crackers, raisins or granola bars and bring them to me to open. When I ask her if she wants to eat it she says loudly, "yea!'
#3 She will stand by the fridge door and yell, Peese!(please) as she tries to pry the door open with her little fingers.
* She will often run to me with open arms and when I kneel down and scoop her up she hugs me and lays her head on my shoulder. ahhh ... I tell you what, that will get you through a tough day!
* She loves to spin and dance with her sister to Princess music, but she does NOT like her sister to lead in the dancing- which totally annoys said big sister :)
But at the end of the day they are all hugs and snuggles.
* Whenever I come to Sunday School to pick her up after church, she runs with open arms to me saying, "mama!" squealing sweetly. I kneel down and she runs into my arms and gives me the best snuggle in the world!
* When Daddy come home from work she jumps and squeaks and spins shouting, "Dada! Dada!". She looks up at him with those BIG BLUE eyes and he can't help but give her whatever she wants :) This is her looking up at him asking him to read her a book - which of COURSE he did!
* She has gotten more spunky and has started to throw little fits when she doesn't get what she wants. She just melts to the floor and flails a bit. Sad to say, but it's pretty hysterical.
* She has also started to stand up for herself more with Maddy, which is great! I think Maddy is learning that she has to be kind and fair if she wants to co-exist well :)
* She is still as teeny as ever. She can still fit in this little back carrier and is happy to do so(well, most of the time).
We are just so thankful for you Rose Lillian Baylor! You truly are a blessing from the Lord and special gift to our family! We love you sweetheart!
