" Rachel Ray saved our Marriage"

That's what Tim always says when I make something new from Rachel Ray's cooking magazine. I have to admit that I am not the best, nor the most motivated cook around. I get stuck in my rut of the few good meals I know and I stick with them.
Tim loves when I make new things, so I am going to try to turn over a "new leaf". I had some extra time and a little bit of motivation, so I sat down and planned out my meals for the next week and a half until Thanksgiving break. I listed the ingredients that I would need to make the meals and tried to include one new meal each week. Hopefully this will help me in my goal.
Rachel Ray is a great resource. She has simple and tasty meals.

If you have any ideas about how you keep yourself organized and motivated in the kitchen, I would love to hear them!

I love the title of your post! That's great. I created a list of all the things I make and I organized them by meat type. So I have a column for beef, chicken, other (turkey, ham, sausage, etc), and vegan. There are probably like 50 meals on there so when I go to plan out my 2 week or 4 week "menu" I just choose meals off the list. It insures that we eat a variety and it helps me to remember some of the obsure things I forget about making.
I will have to send you a copy of it if you want.

Remember the night we "swapped recipes" that was fun!

Julie,
I will have to check out Rachel's magazine, I am always looking for new ideas. Jonny could eat the same thing every single week, I'm the one that gets bored, and I always like something new for company:)I don't have any great ideas for you except for when you have babies around- I make a very detailed grocery list, organized according to the our grocery store and Jonathan does the shopping for me!

Katie,
I'd love a copy of the recipe ideas too- if you have them on your computer- I don't want you to go to all the work of actually copying them for me!!

Christine,
send me an email at zigger03@hotmail.com and I will send you the list.

I have a list of all the items that my grocery store sells too! It's organized by aisle :) It makes shopping so easy, I just choose my meals, circle all the things I need to buy to make the meals- on my Walmart aisle list, and then I go shopping :) - does this make me OCD?

Tim and I usually plan and shop for a whole month.

Wow do I feel so unorganized! I wing it like you Jules. I have been good about making a list of meal ideas for each week and doing a grocery store run. But I normally ask "Don, anything sound good to you?" to which he normally responds, "Not really". Leaving me in the same boat I started out in. I try to think of things we haven't had in a while, and vary the meat as well. I like Katie's idea though. I'll put it on my ever growing list of "To-Do's"!
Sorry, I don't have any crafty ideas for you!

Julie - I'm in the same boat with you, until Stephen got me this subscription for my b-day. I love Rachael Ray, and love her show now that's on weekdays, although I rarely get to see it. Anyways, I love Kraft foods website also. They do simple meals for a week AND do the grocery list too. I appreciate that part. Like Rachael Ray, they are simple and quick recipes which we all need b/c who wants to spend all day in the kitchen???

Katie - I'm very interested in you resources also. Could you email it to me at ssconley@gmail.com? I'm glad somebody's OCD so we can all benefit. Just kidding. :)It's something I've been meaning to do myself.
